Kano Mosque bomb blast victims in need of blood

According to the North West Coordinator of the National Emergency Management Authority NEMA, Musa Illamah, most of the victims of the Central Mosque Kano bomb blast that happened on Friday Nov 28th are in dire of blood and consumables "We went round the hospitals to assess the conditions of those who are receiving treatment and we were told that what they need most is blood and consumables. I spoke with the officials of the Federal Ministry of Health and and they have assured me that they would mobilize blood bank in Katsina to supply blood to the hospital" he told newsmen Residents in Kano have been trooping to the various hospitals where the victims are being treated to donate blood.

63 escape death as plane crashlands in Ilorin

An Overland flight 1186, an ATR 72 aircraft with Registration number 5N-BPG from Abuja airport to Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, carrying fifty nine passengers and four crew yesterday veered off the runway at low speed after a normal landing at the Ilorin Airport. The incident which occurred yesterday at 4.45pm according to the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) recorded no casualty as passengers on board were able to disembark safely. Sources at the airport said one of the tyres of the plane got burst as soon as it touched ground on the tarmac. It was gathered that the aircraft was towed from the tarmac at about 7.00pm yesterday. Meanwhile, the Accident and Prevention Bureau (AIB) in conjunction with the NCAA has launched an investigation into the cause of the incident. The regulatory body has however used the occasion to reassure Nigerians that their safety was still paramount and cannot be compromised.

Nigeria's best known potter who was awarded a Doctorate and was made MBE in 1963 for the level of detail and skill she utilized while making her pots. Ladi Dosei Kwali (1925-1983) popularly known as Dr Ladi Kwali was born in 1925 in Kwali town in the present Federal Capital Territory, Abuja,Nigeria. Probably she is the best known of the Abuja potters. Making pots was women’s work in Kwali and the entire Gwari villages, therefore Ladi came to Abuja (the then Suleja) with knowledge of traditional Gwari pottery. She did not at first take to the idea of using wheels and kilns and the other paraphernalia of the European potter, but proved to have a natural ability to throw. She was picked from her traditional home Kwali to the then Abuja the present Suleja because of her natural ability in making pots. The Abuja Pottery Train...

Obanikoro’s Son Wins Primary Elections For Lagos Assembly

Babajide Obanikoro (first left)  Ibrahim Babajide Obanikoro, son of former Minister of State for Defence and governorship aspirant for Lagos on the platform of PDP, Musiliu Obanikoro, was yesterday evening declared the winner of the party’s primary election for the candidacy of the Lagos State House of Assembly. Obanikoro polled 18 votes against Muyiwa Ariyo, who got nine votes. The duo battled for the candidacy to represent Eti-Osa Constituency 2 at the House in the forthcoming election.
