Meet a man desired by his people in Ogun West Senatorial District to lead and represent their interest at the Senate . Rotimi Adebari – Short Profile Rotimi is a Nigerian born Irish politician. He arrived in the Republic of Ireland in 2000. As an independent candidate, he was elected into Portlaoise Town Council in 2004. He made history in 2007 when his election as the Mayor of Portlaoise made him the first African to be elected into such position in Ireland. In the June 2009 Elections, Rotimi retained his Town Council seat and also secured a seat in Laois County Council making him the first and only immigrant to be elected at that level of representation in Ireland. He was a candidate at the 2011 General Elections into the Irish National Parliament (Dail Eireann). Rotimi’s obtained his first degree in Economics from the University of Benin, Nigeria and Masters in Intercultural Studies at Dublin City University, Ireland.
