I Can Support Anybody, But Not Jonathan- Obasanjo

Image
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has again escalated his rejection of President Goodluck Jonathan’s 2nd term bid by declaring his current mindset to be “Anything But Jonathan” (ABJ). He expressed his feelings to several of his aides after his widely publicized meeting with Jonathan. Jonathan’s closed-door meeting with Obasanjo clearly failed to soften the former leader’s hostility towards his floundering re-election bid as Obasanjo bluntly told him that having referred to elders as a “touts”, it was hypocritical for Jonathan to turn around to describe him (Obasanjo) as the best president Nigeria ever had. If Jonathan believes Obasanjo is Nigeria's best president, why does he allow his boy to insult him? To make matters worse, a few hours after meeting with Jonathan, Obasanjo met with leaders of the APC and their presidential candidate, Muhammad Buhari, where he affirmed he will support the best candidate for the office of President in 2015, regardless of party affiliati...

Muhammad Ali back in hospital

Image
Muhammad Ali is back in hospital a week after being discharged. The boxing legend has been admitted to the ICU after guests staying at his home in Arizona, in the US, failed to wake him up. Ali, who turns 73 on Saturday, recently received treatment for a severe urinary tract infection. A source told US website Radar Online: “He wasn’t responding. “He went to bed Tuesday night, but didn’t wake up in the afternoon or evening the next day. He was sleeping for 24 hours.” “They thought he might be too exhausted,” the source added. The three-time former world heavyweight champion was released from hospital on January 7 after a two week stay with what was thought to be pneumonia. Doctors later diagnosed him with a urinary tract infection. Ali, who is also an Olympic gold medallist, was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in the 1980s.

Soyinka Denies Endorsing Any Candidate

Image
Professor Wole Soyinka has warned those spreading rumours about him endorsing President Goodluck Jonathan and some governorship candidate should deceit from spreading the lies because he never for once endorsed any candidate. Soyinka stated this in a piece titled ‘Identity Thieves and the 2015 Election Peace Accord.’ His words; “Let me thus seize the occasion of the Abuja accord to state categorically that I have never made a statement endorsing any presidential or governorship contestant. All such attributions are fabrications by faceless, often self-appointed agents of deception, and should be publicly pilloried. “Whenever I choose to declare support for a candidate – as is my electoral right – I shall ensure that I deploy a medium that places my authorship beyond dispute,” he said.
