The Borno State Government has disclosed that it would require over $20m to resettle people displaced by the Boko Haram insurgency back to their communities. This was disclosed by the state governor, Alhaji Kashim Shettima, while addressing a delegation of the Red Cross in Maiduguri, the state capital. The delegation was led by the President of Red Cross, Mr. Peter Maurer. The governor, who was represented by the Deputy Governor, Alhaji Zannah Mustapha, said the state government needed the assistance of the Federal Government and international donor agencies to rehabilitate the Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs, lamenting that since the displacement of many residents from their communities by the Boko Haram militants, the state government has had to shoulder the responsibility of feeding the IDPs through the State Emergency Management Agency. The Lagos State Peoples Democratic Party Youth Leaders Forum has asked the party’s supporters to pray and fast in order for the governorship petition of the party to be favourably considered by the Election Petitions Tribunal. The group also called on its supporters to come forward with information and documents to strengthen the petition of its governorship candidate, Mr. Jimi Agbaje.
