Photos: Ogun State signs agreement to build Africa’s second largest refinery

The Ogun State Government, on Wednesday, signed an agreement with a consortium of four private companies to build the second largest refinery in sub-Saharan Africa and the largest petroleum product depot in Nigeria. The Chairman, Petrolex Group, Mr. Segun Adebutu who led other partners in the consortium to the office of the Ogun State Governor for the agreement signing ceremony, said the two projects, when completed would generate not less than 2000 employment opportunities for the citizens and greatly increase the socio-economic condition of the state. He said the refinery is situated in the Odogbolu Local Government Area of the state. Edo: Dokpesi Slams CP Over His Ordered Arrest

A Peoples Democratic Party national chairmanship aspirant, Raymond Dokpesi, has slammed the Edo State Commissioner of Police, Haliru Gwandu,  for allegedly ordering  his arrest  over the  electoral violence in  Agenebode,  Etsako-East Local Government Area  during the governorship election in  the state  on Wednesday. Dokpesi, who addressed  reporters  in his Agenebode home, accused the police of aiding political thugs in the community  to manipulate the  poll in favour of the opposition. Lagos Police Arrests Indian Man for Assaulting Staff

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested an Indian, Jay Keswani, for allegedly assaulting his wife’s domestic help, Faith Nwaneri, on the Banana Island, Ikoyi area of the state. Punch Metro learnt that Keswani was apprehended on Tuesday by the Adeniji Adele division after about six weeks he allegedly evaded arrest. It was gathered that Faith, who worked for the Indian businessman, was hit on the face on Friday, August 12, while in the Keswanis’ apartment on the Banana Island. She was said to have been assaulted for coming late to work on that day. It was learnt that Faith sustained a facial injury after which she reported the matter at the Ikoyi Police Division. Policemen from the division had reportedly gone to the Island to arrest the Indian, but were allegedly prevented from entering the area. EDO: INEC Denies Ballot Box Snatching As Against Oshiomhole’s Allegations

The Independent National Electoral Commission has denied report of ballot box snatching and gunshots in some polling centres during the Edo governorship election today. Gov. Adams Oshiomhole had earlier said he received a report that some thugs snatched ballot boxes at Opoji in Esan North-East Local Government Area during the election. He also alleged that the suspected snatchers shot sporadically before taking away the ballot boxes. The Deputy Director of Voter Education and Publicity, INEC, Mr Nick Dazang said, “I just called Mr Solomon Soyebi, who is the National Commissioner supervising the election and has denied the allegation of gunshots and ballot box snatching at Opoji in Esan North-East Local Government Area of the state.”
