The Federal Government on Thursday in Abuja presented operational licences to four new private polytechnics and 34 Innovation Enterprise Institutions(IEIS) and Vocational Enterprise Institutions (VEIS).   The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the new polytechnics are Nacabs Polytechnic, Akwanga, Nasarawa State; Uyo City Polytechnic, Akwa Ibom State; the Polytechnic Igbo-Owu, Kwara State and Balmor Polytechnic, Ibadan, Oyo State.   Speaking at the licence presentation in Abuja, the Minister of Education, Malam Ibrahim Shekarau, said that the move was in tandem with the quest by the Federal Government to build skilled manpower for the country.   He said the polytechnics, the IEIs and the VEIs were expected to focus on applied learning that would be relevant to the development needs of the country.   He added that “the Federal Government, in realisation of the need for appropriate manpower to the developmental needs of the country, opened the way for the priv...

Aggrieved youth set Robbers Ablaze in Okuku Market in Cross river

Four persons have been burnt to death in Okuku Market of Yala LGA, Cross River State after a successful rubbery attack on market woman.  Report says the armed robbers finished operation successfully and were in their hideout when a random house to house search by the youth was initiated and the culprits were figured out and brought to the community head for verification after which they were handed over back to the youth for further actions. It was gathered that the youth took the culprits on a jungle justice as the four robbers were set ablaze before everybody including the parents of the culprits who could not save them from the aggrieved youth.  As at the time of filling this report, the divisional Police officer in charge ‎of the community could not be reached for comments.

The Nigerian government federal secretariat is currently on fire. The complex houses major government offices in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital. The cause of the fire which started some minutes ago is yet to be ascertained.
