Rivers State APC chapter has said they have put everything in place and now heading to the court to challenge the Victory of PDP’s governorship candidate,  Chief Nyesom Wike in the last election, who INEC declared winner. According to a statement released by the chairman of Rivers APC Chapter, Davies Ikanya, the party’s mandate was stolen by the Peoples Democratic Party, in connivance with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the police. According to someone who witnessed the beat down, trouble started after MC Galaxy told B-Red that he (Galaxy) was more popular than him (B-Red). B-Red didn’t agree and they went back and forth. The senator-elect in Ogun East, Prince Buruji Kashamu was absent at the presentation of certificate of returns to the newly elected federal lawmakers and the governor. The House of Representative member-elect to represent Remo federal constituency, Oladipupo Adebutu (the son of lotto billionaire Adebutu, whom his father threw a lavish  party  for shortly after his victory) was also absent. Both candidates are members of PDP. Ogun state governor, Ibikunle Amosun, and other candidates who emerged winners were however there to receive their certificates. Pm News reports that Kashamu deliberately shunned the event to avoid being booed by the crowd at the event, while we do not know why young Adebutu missed the occasion.

NITEL The Federal Government yesterday approved the hand over of Nigeria Telecommunications  Limited (NITEL) and its mobile arm, Mtel to NATCOM. National Council on Privatisation (NCP) Technical Committee Deputy Chairman Haruna Sambo,  who spoke after the NCP meeting chaired by Vice President Namadi Sambo at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, said the consortium had completed the payment of $252.251million being the cost of the firm’s acquisition. He said: “You recall that at the last NCP meeting, approval was made for the financial bid for NITEL/MTEL by the bidder, NATCOM Consortium at the cost of $ 252.251m. Today, at the council meeting, the council approved the handover to NATCOM Consortium, having paid the cost of acquisition. “By this approval, the process has come to a closure and the council has mandated the BPE to hand over the two companies to the preferred winner, of course, after all other outstanding issues are taken care of. “With this, t...

Two Lagos-based legal practitioners, Oluyinka Oyeniji and Osasuyi Adebayo, have commenced contempt proceedings against the Managing Director of MultiChoice Nigeria Limited, Mr. John Ugbe, for allegedly violating a court order. Ugbe, alongside the Public Relations Manager of the company, Caroline Oghuma, is liable to being jailed if found guilty of the allegation. The lawyers had, on April 2, 2015, secured a court order of interim injunction restraining MultiChoice from giving effect to its proposed 20 per cent increment on subscription fee on the Digital Satellite Television (DStv) being operated by it. Justice C.J. Aneke of a Federal High Court in Lagos, who made the interim order, had held that the order would subsist till the determination of a lawsuit contesting the legality of MultiChoice’s newly-introduced subscription rates on DStv.
