Nigeria’s captain, Mikel Obi on Thursday revealed that he is ready to sacrifice his current position on the team, if it will help the Super Eagles win the matches in the 2018 World Cup. The statement was contained on Super Eagles’ verified Twitter handle, quoting the captain as saying; “I am the captain of this team, if I have to sacrifice for this team to progress, I will. If I have to sacrifice a position, go play wherever, I will do that for this team to win games.”

Mice have apparently chewed through 1.2 million INR (N6.7m) worth of bank notes. The rodents snacked on the currency inside an ATM in Tinsukia, which is located in north-eastern India’s Assam state. Staff at the State Bank of India called technicians after the cash machine stopped working, according to Times of India. When the engineer opened up the ATM they were shocked to discover rodents had chewed through 1.2 million INR, which was half of the cash inside. Pictures showed the shredded notes. The bank has since complained to the police but no-one quite knows what they expect them to do about it. Tinsukia district Superintendent of Police Mugdhajyoti Mahanta said: ‘When the engineer and other officials opened the ATM, they found destroyed notes and also found a dead mouse inside the ATM.’

Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose, has accused the Federal Government of deliberately withholding the release of the Paris Club refund to states purposely to prevent Ekiti from using the money to pay arrears of workers’ salary before the July 14 governorship election. Fayose also warned the electoral umpire, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), against stopping the collation of elections results midway, as it was done during the governorship election in Edo State. The governor, who spoke through his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Idowu Adelusi in Ado Ekiti on Thursday, said Ekiti State and other states had been cleared to get the refund, but the FG refused to release it to the states because of Ekiti election as it did in Kogi.
