It was a memorable and eventful day on Sunday 14th, 2021 in Lagos state when young political titans across the southwest and Kogi state under the ages of AFENIFERE FOR COLLECTIVE TRANSFORMATION stormed the state in an extraordinary pre-benefit conference to map out mobilisation and canvassing strategies for the emergence of Governor Yahaya Bello as president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria come 2023. Customs officer drowns in accident while chasing smugglers

  The Nigerian Customs Service (NCS), Western Marine Command, on Wednesday, said it lost an officer in a boat mishap on Monday. The Public Relations Officer, Idaho Sulaiman, disclosed this in a statement in Lagos. He said the incident occurred at about 6:10 p.m. on March 22, while operatives of the command, Akere Surveillance/Monitoring team under Idiroko Outstation, were acting on credible information along Vawhe-Isalu creeks. Mr Sulaiman said the team, led by Inspector of Customs (IC) Ajayi A.S., had the mishap while trying to intercept a boat suspected to be carrying smuggled items. “The accident resulted in the death of Assistant Inspector of Customs (AIC) Aliyu AA by drowning. “The body of the deceased was found underneath the river with the assistance of villagers around the axis. “The body was taken to General Hospital Badagry and later deposited at the mortuary, having been certified dead by the doctor on call. “The corpse was transported by air on-board MAX air airline to ...

Super Eagles stars say their desire to get a comfortable result against Benin Republic in their 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on Saturday at the Stade Charles de Gaulle, Porto Novo is one of the reasons why they’ve decided to travel by sea to the neighbouring West African country. NFF president Amaju Pinnick had earlier stated that it would be easier for the team to travel by sea for the encounter rather than spend a lot of time in traffic if they were to ply the route by road. The distance from Lagos to Porto Novo on road is about 105km, while the standard driving time is 1hr 40 minutes, but with the traffic situation within Lagos State, the time it will take the team to reach their destination might be longer, hence the suggestion of an alternative means of transportation. “It will be my first time travelling by sea but I don’t really mind.
