Following the visit of Aisha Buhari, wife of President Muhammadu Buhari, to the United States of America, the Arewa Youth Integrity Forum (AYIF) has asked Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State, to immediately apologise to Nigerians and the first family after he claimed Mrs Buhari was a fugitive from justice in the US over the Halliburton scandal. Former President Goodluck Jonathan today departed Nigeria for Zambia as head of the AU Election Observer mission. According to the photos of his departure posted on Facebook by a former aide, Reno Omokri, Jonathan was air-lifted by one of the Nigeria Air Force planes. See more photos below....

Rio's Olympic Games have officially begun after the opening ceremony took place, featuring elaborate light display and carnival lights. Supermodel Gisele Bundchen took to the stage, although some where furious at the money being spent during Brazil's worst recession in recent years which resulted to protests outside the stadium. Fireworks erupted from the stadium while hundreds of samba dances paraded through the stadium, carnival-style.
