Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, today distributed rams to Muslims in the state, appealing to them to shun politicians whipping religious sentiment. More photos after the cut... A communique signed by the state’s Assistant Secretary, League of Imams and Alfas, Alhaji Quadri Oguntuase, and two others, had earlier ordered Muslims in the state not to collect rams and other food items for Sallah celebration, if presented to them in any form by the government. However, the General Secretary of the League, Alhaji Abdulrazak Adenipekun, in a counter-statement ordered Muslims in the state to ignore the ban on Sallah’s gift. Distributing the rams in Government House, Fayose said he won’t allow himself to be dragged into playing politics with religion in the State. “I won’t allow anybody to drag me into playing politics with religion. What I am doing today is a demonstration of love and support for the Muslims. I am not that kind of a leader who does things with religious interest....

Buhari Approves N70m For Nigeria’s 55th Independence Anniversary

 President Buhari has approved N70 million for the entire celebration of Nigeria 55th Independence Anniversary which is slated to commence from  September 25, 2015 . Disclosing this at a press conference today, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation,  Babachir Lawal, said the Federal government has decided that the independent anniversary would be celebrated low key, that is the reason only N70m was approved to take care of the entire celebration. Lawal who was represented by the Permanent Secretary on Political Affairs,  Mrs. Ibukun Odusute, explained that the reason for the low key celebration is because the present administration appreciate the economic hardship that Nigeria and indeed the nation is confronted today. Zeez’ Record Label Drags Him To Court, Warns Music Promoters From Relating With Him

Kingsley Elikpo, popularly known as Dj Zeez, now Zeez who is signed onto HF Records has been dragged to court by his record label following his inability to meet his obligations as outlined in his contract. The record label are also ready to sue any entertainment company willing to engage Zeez while the case is still in court, warning it will further help the artiste to breach the contract he has with them. Investigations however revealed that Zeez has been truly served the court processes, including the motion for injunction to restrain him from performing at shows and engaging in music-related business with other persons or organisations in violation of his contract with HF Music. Zeez, in an affidavit submitted to the court, however denied that he was performing shows for other organizations (paid or free) without the label's consent. Just few weeks ago, Zeez was stopped from performing in America, when his record label heard about a show he was billed to perform...

Osun Students Block Dep. Governor From Entering State Secretariat Over 9 Months Closure Of Schools

Students of Osun State government-owned tertiary institutions, yesterday for over an hour, prevented the deputy governor, Mrs. Grace Laoye-Tomori from entering the Abeere Government Secretariat while protesting the continued closure of their campuses. The students, mainly from the four tertiary institutions, Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, Osun State College of Technology, Esa-Oke, Osun state College of Education, Ila and Ilesa, participated in the protest which lasted several hours. The students demanded immediate re-opening of their schools shut nine months ago. The students had, as early as 9.00 am, converged on the popular Olaiya junction and held up traffic for about an hour before moving to the state secretariat. During the protest, the students blocked all roads leading to the secretariat and insisted that their campuses be immediately reopened.
