As part of efforts to ensure improvement in the security and safety of lives and property of residents, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde yesterday inaugurated an expanded coverage of its Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) surveillance coverage. The new coverage area, which now stretches to the two toll-gate areas, including the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway and the Asejiri end of the Ibadan-Ife Expressway, is to help in security as well as traffic management. The CCTV project, which was started by the last administration, only covered major red hot zones of the state. The areas include Beere, Molete, Oke-Ado, Challenge, Iwo Road, Agodi Gate, Ojoo, Mokola, Mapo and Sango. A telecommunications mast to enhance signal and flow of communication from the cameras and control room was also installed to replace the dependence on the use of Internet, which has been costing the government N3.5million monthly. The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control on Thursday night announced  745  new cases in Nigeria The centre made this known via its Twitter handle. The new cases as recorded in states on Thursday are as follows: Lagos-280 Oyo-103 Ebonyi-72 FCT-60 Imo-46 Edo-34 Delta-33 Rivers-25 Kaduna-23 Ondo-16 Katsina-12 Kano-10 Bauchi-8 Borno-7 Kwara-5 Gombe-4 Sokoto-2 Enugu-2 Yobe-1 Osun-1 Nasarawa-1 As it stands now, 18,480 persons have contacted the virus in Nigeria, with 6,307 persons discharged, and 475 deaths recorded.
