PRESS RELEASE: We Did Not Raid Ex-Gov. Ambode’s Residence-EFCC

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC has since early hours of today, been inundated with calls that operatives of the Commission raided the residence of the former governor of Lagos State, Akinwunmi Ambode. We need to state for the records that the EFCC did not raid Ambode’s house. It is instructive that his administration, like other former governors is under investigation, since they no longer constitutionally enjoy immunity against prosecution. The Commission hereby states with high sense of responsibility that the operatives did not raid Ambode’s residence. Whatever the Commission is presently doing with regards to the investigation is in line with its mandate and the rule of law. We wish to inform the social media to be circumspect in the reportage of any news with regards to investigation activities of the Commission. The pageant was first held in 2013 and it has run successfully for 6 years. The winner of this competition is crowned the Face of Democracy Nigeria and she wears the crown for 1 year. We believe in promoting self confidence amongst Nigeria women because this is an important quality to possess as an agent of change. This initiative was launched to celebrate women of all tribes and empower them to realise their goals by creating opportunities for them, it provides its participants with a global platform to effect positive change personally, professionally and help them to become leaders and role models. The leadership and members of the Young Progressive Party Ogun State under the chairmanship of Prince Tolu Ajayi (P.T.A) express our profound gratitude and appreciation to Mr. Benjamin Osibodu for his unrelenting efforts in contributing handsomely to the educational development of Ogun State. Mr. Benjamin Osibodu is a United States-based Nigerian from Ikenne local government of Ogun state who had since March 2017 facilitated the donation of 30,000 books to Ogun state students from the World Bank. These books are currently in a container at the Tin Can Island port in Lagos and have been there for over a year now. This opportunity of free books by the World Bank to students in a developing country can be seized by any other country in Africa but took the efforts and influence of Mr. Benjamin Osibodu to facilitate this uncommon gesture to Ogun state and Ikenne local government in particular.
