This is outrageous and cannot continue. Why have these unions become a law unto themselves? So they went on strike without even understanding what the government meant by 'unbundling?? Oil unions workers under the umbrella of NUPENG and PENGASSAN have reportedly called off their one-day-old strike after meeting with the junior Minister of Petroleum, Ibe Kachikwu.  The unions had embarked on strike following the misinterpretation of the unbundling of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC). After meeting with Kachikwu, the unions decided to sheath their swords and get back to work. Kachikwu assured them that there was no unbundling of NNPC, stressing that, what was happening was a restructuring. SportsWear manufacturing giant Nike have suspended Maria Sharapova's $50m deal after the Russian athlete admitted to using a banned drug. The WTA ranked World No. 7 admitted in her press conference yesterday that she had been using performance enhancer drug meldonium for the last 10 years as part of a doctor's prescription for health issues and didn't know it was banned by the World Anti-Doping Agency in December. Sharapova, who is the world's highest earning female athlete, making as much as $20m in 2015 alone, might lose her other lucrative contracts with Tag Heuer, American Express, Porsche, Evian and Avon. In a statement, Nike said: “We are saddened and surprised by the news about Maria Sharapova. “We have decided to suspend our relationship with Maria while the investigation continues. A pensioner, Mrs Rose Julius who retired from the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, yesterday donated her N10,000 pension to support the President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration’s war against corruption. Mrs Rose also promised to donate N1,000 every month out of her N10,000 pension towards the rehabilitation of Internally Displaced Persons. She noted she was making the donation because she was convinced that Buhari is a tested man of integrity who can be trusted to restore the lost glory of Nigeria. The donation was received by Mr Femi Adeshina on behalf of the President while thanking her for her great gesture.

Minister of state for Labor and Productivity, James Ocholi, died in a fatal motor accident along the Kaduna-Abuja express road this afternoon. He died along with his son while his wife who was in his car is currently lying in a critical condition in a hospital. Personal Assistant to President Buhari on New Media, confirmed Ocholi's death on twitter.

After APC’s choice, Yahaya Bello was sworn in last month as the executive Governor of Kogi State, he had ruled the State these past days without a deputy.  However that came to an end yesterday, Tuesday, 9 th  of February, 2016 when the Kogi State House of Assembly approved the nomination of a former Deputy Speaker of the State House of assembly, Mr Simeon Achuba, as the state’s deputy governor. The approval was immediately followed by Achuba’s swearing-in behind closed doors without wasting time. Journalists who had rushed to the Banquet Hall of the Government House, the venue of the inauguration to cover the historical event were all shocked as they were barred from covering it.
