Music Promoter Allegedly Swindles Upcoming Abuja Artiste

Photo courtesy of encomium A battle of wits is presently raging the Abuja music scene as an upcoming artiste, Sule Abdulmalik popularly called Landy, has been duped of his brand new car which he won at a music contest by one of Nigeria’s popular telecom companies. According to reports, the music promoter (name withheld) who is reported to be a building contractor and sponsor of Landy, tricked the young artiste in allowing him drive his new car to Abuja. On arriving Abuja, the music promoter registered the car without Landy’s consent and removed the branding on the car. The promoter claims to have invested over one million naira in the music career of Landy and should therefore be allowed to enjoy the proceeds of his investment. The car is currently at the Gwarinpa Police station where the car is detained. Meanwhile, Landy is still walking the streets of Abuja, and hopping taxis. More details soon.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic To Retire From Sweden Duty

Zlatan Ibrahimovic will retire from international football after Euro 2016. Sweden's record goalscorer will quit this summer at the age of 34, and his last game could come as early as Wednesday night. Ibrahimovic, who is expected to join Manchester United, said: "I will not participate in the Olympics because my last game will be the last game Sweden does in this Euro. So let's hope it goes as long as possible. "To finish in a disappointment, never. Because I'm very proud to be the captain of Sweden and of what I've achieved. I want to take this moment and thank all the supporters because they made it possible for me to achieve what I have achieved. Without them it would not have been possible. "So wherever I go, wherever I come, I'll allays bring the Swedish flag with me and stand with it. So for me disappointment doesn't exist, only proudness. I'm very thankful. So thank you."

Former NUJ Chairman Dies On 50th Birthday

A former chairman of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, Abuja chapter, Chuck Ehirim, is dead. Mr. Ehirim died on his 50th birthday which happens to be today. He was the chairman of the Abuja chapter of the NUJ between 2012 and 2015.

President Buhari will allocate oil blocs to south-south indigenes - Ibe Kachikwu

Ibe Kachikwu, minister of petroleum resources, says President Muhammadu Buhari has not allocated a single oil bloc since he came into office, but when he eventually starts, south-south indigenes will have their share. At a town hall meeting in Uyo, capital of Akwa-Ibom state, organised by the ministry of information and culture, a Nigerian asked the minister why oil bloc allocations favoured the north rather than the south-south, where most oil blocs are located. Answering, Kachikwu said this was not the doing of President Buhari, emphasising that the president would follow due process in allocation of oil blocs when the time comes. Kachikwu also disagreed with Rotimi Amaechi, minister of transportation, on the establishment and maintenance of the Maritime University in Akwa-Ibom. “I disagree with the minister of transport.
