Makarfi Visits Sheriff As PDP Factions Seek End To Crisis

The Chairman of the National Caretaker Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party, Senator Ahmed Makarfi, and the party’s factional National Chairman, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, met in Abuja on Tuesday to resolve the lingering crisis in the party. It was learnt that the meeting between the two PDP leaders, laying claim to the headship of the former ruling party, was aimed at seeking an end the leadership crisis in the party.  

Edo Govt Exempts Banks, Corporate Organisations From 1st Election Public Holiday

The Edo State Government has exempted banks and corporate organisations from the public holiday declared for Tuesday, September 27. The State Government had declared a public holiday for Tuesday, September 27 and Wednesday, September 28, 2016 to enable voters in the state travel to their various locations and exercise their voting rights on Wednesday, September 28. However, Banks and corporate community have now been exempted from the public holiday on Tuesday, September 27 in order not to slow down the economy of the state.

Thief Steals Woman's Pot Of Rice In Ebonyi State

A  woman identified as Agnes on Sunday in Abakaliki lost the pot of rice she was cooking to thieves. Some pressmen who visited Agnes’ residence behind Nnodo Secondary School, Amike-Aba on Monday report that she was still in shock over the incident. It took repeated appeals by the correspondent to make Agnes talk, as she maintained that her husband had barred her from speaking further on the issue to avoid negative attention to the family. “I came back from a village-meeting late on Sunday and put the rice on fire so that my family could have their dinner and eat the remnant on Monday morning. “This apartment, as you can see, has no kitchen so we cook in the space in front of the house, likewise other occupants of the building,” she said. Submit budget early:Ekweremadu, Dogara, Tambuwal urge FG

Principal officers of the National Assembly and Gov. Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto state, have advocated timely submission of budget as antidote to the problems facing the document. They made the submission on Monday in Abuja at a colloquium on budgetary reforms with the theme: “Budget as tool for accelerated Economic Development in Nigeria,” organised by OrderPaper.ng. In his remarks, Deputy President of the Senate, Ike Ekweremadu , declared that timely presentation of budget by the executive was key to budgetary reforms in the country. He explained that early submission of budget ensured transparency, adding that late submission was detrimental to the country’s push for economic growth and rapid development. N1bn debt:: Court freezes Imo state accounts

Imo State government might be cash trapped in the coming following days following the order of the Court of Appeal that all state accounts be frozen over N1billion debt. According to a report by Vanguard Newspaper, the court sitting in Owerri, recently ordered the freezing of all the accounts of the State Government as well as confiscation of all monies domiciled in the accounts. The court reportedly ordered that the confiscated monies should be used to offset the sum of N1 billion owed E. F. Network Nigeria Limited and Gideon Egbuchulam . The judgement which was delivered by Justice G.
