Covid-19: WAEC Cancellation Puts Nigeria At More Risk.- Atiku

The Federal Government has just announced that schools under its control will not be reopening for the forthcoming West African Examination Council (WAEC) exams. This was disclosed in a tweet post by the aide to President Muhammadu Buhari on New Media, Tolu Ogunlesi from his official Twitter handle on Wednesday, July 8, 2020. Reacting to the development was the former vice President, Atiku Abubakar, on his verified Twitter account. As a parent and investor in the education sector, I wish to register that the Nigerian government’s policy of unilaterally cancelling the West African Senior School Certificate Examination, held annually by the West African Examinations Council, is not in Nigeria’s best interest. APC Chairman resigns in Ondo, follows Agboola to PDP

The Chairman, All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ese-Odo local government area of Ondo state Samuel Olorunwa has resigned his membership of the party. He tendered his resignation letter at the party Secretariat today and announced his defection to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Olorunwa said he resigned his position as chairman as well as being a member of APC from Friday 10th July, 2020. It was gathered that his action was propelled by the recent defection of the state Deputy Governor, Mr Agboola Ajayi to the PDP.

Supermarket manager who won £1million lottery prize says he won't quit his job

A supermarket manager thought he was being pranked after winning £1 million on a £5 scratchcard - but has vowed not to give up his day job. Shawn Keeley, who works at a Eurospar in Dungiven, Co Derry, said he "checked every inch" of the Lotto card to make sure it wasn't a fake. The 26-year-old even consulted with family and friends before he was convinced, but won't be quitting his job despite his newfound wealth. Shawn now plans to buy himself a Range Rover and go on a big holiday, as well as share the money with those he loves. "I really couldn’t believe it. At first I thought it must be a fake card and I checked every inch of it to make sure it was real," he explained. “Then I double checked all the numbers and they looked good too, so I gave the card to my mum and dad to have a look. Oyo extends CCTV coverage to Lagos-Ibadan Expressway

As part of efforts to ensure improvement in the security and safety of lives and property of residents, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde yesterday inaugurated an expanded coverage of its Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) surveillance coverage. The new coverage area, which now stretches to the two toll-gate areas, including the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway and the Asejiri end of the Ibadan-Ife Expressway, is to help in security as well as traffic management. The CCTV project, which was started by the last administration, only covered major red hot zones of the state. The areas include Beere, Molete, Oke-Ado, Challenge, Iwo Road, Agodi Gate, Ojoo, Mokola, Mapo and Sango. A telecommunications mast to enhance signal and flow of communication from the cameras and control room was also installed to replace the dependence on the use of Internet, which has been costing the government N3.5million monthly. Nigeria records 745 new cases of COVID-19, total 18,480

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control on Thursday night announced  745  new cases in Nigeria The centre made this known via its Twitter handle. The new cases as recorded in states on Thursday are as follows: Lagos-280 Oyo-103 Ebonyi-72 FCT-60 Imo-46 Edo-34 Delta-33 Rivers-25 Kaduna-23 Ondo-16 Katsina-12 Kano-10 Bauchi-8 Borno-7 Kwara-5 Gombe-4 Sokoto-2 Enugu-2 Yobe-1 Osun-1 Nasarawa-1 As it stands now, 18,480 persons have contacted the virus in Nigeria, with 6,307 persons discharged, and 475 deaths recorded.
