DEPUTY Governor of Ogun State, Prince Segun Adesegun Thursday announced his intention to contest the state's governorship election next year.
Adesegun, who until a couple of months ago was the state's number two man under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) disclosed that he would contest the election under the platform of the Social Democratic Party (SDP).
The Deputy Governor who spoke at a press conference at his official residence formally announced his defection to the SDP.
"I have joined the SDP, I have taken decision to contest the governorship seat of Ogun State," he stressed, adding: "This decision is personal and it was without grudge against anybody. I just want to let people know that I have joined the SDP."
According to him: "I cannot afford to sit and allow my followership to rot away so I needed to take a decision and that I have done. I did not regret serving under the governor, I know that anything you do in life there is a challenge so it is just a challenge. I still remain the deputy governor."
Adesegun insisted that his defection did not mean he would not perform his statutory duties as the deputy governor of the state.
Questioned about a recent letter he wrote to Governor Ibikunle Amosun making some allegations against him, Adesegun said: "The letter was private but it got leaked but I want to close that chapter hitherto nothing has been done about all the issues I raised about that letter.
