History was made in Ogun East Senatorial constituency of Ogun State on the 27th of April, 2018 as Young politicians under Young Progressive Party gathered in their large numbers to declare with one voice that enough is enough.
A meeting was hosted by the youths of the Ogun East Senatorial District where the youths all stated their displeasure and ordeals from the rulings of the recycled old politicians.
The youths expressed a desire to be lead and not ruled. A desire to have young, passionate, vibrant and highly intellectual Nigerians to be at the helms of affairs of any political public office.
The youths also declared their interest and desire to join the Young Progressive Party YPP as the only party that can fully represent the interests of the youths in transparency, accountability and equity.
The youths see YPP as the Young People's Party and they believe that with more youths of like minds, a lot can be achieved to correct the political anomalies on ground.
In attendance were many prominent sons and daughters, movers and shakers of industries, the executives of the YPP.
The Vice Chairman of the Ogun East Senatorial District, in person of Comrade Deola Alao introduced the guest speaker Prince Tolu Ajayi, who is also the State Chairman for YPP. The atmosphere was charged as soon as the speaker began his address.
The meeting was very remarkable and successful as it witnessed some youths denouncing their membership of other parties of recycled politicians and clinging to a party that exudes transparency, equality, accountability and quality service to the people
With the knowledge that some youths have been opportuned to hold political offices without making much impact, the state chairman Prince Tolu Ajayi remarked that the old and recycled political leaders and godfathers should desist from using such excuse to bastardize the glorious political future of the young and progressive youths of Ogun State who are willing and ready to serve the people without fear or mentorship of a godfather and recycled politician.
He said experiences gathered from recycled politicians will only destroy the beautiful picture of the future of our generation and the ones to come.
*"We are not corrupt, we are not lazy, it was not just our time"*. However, *"we are more competent, reliable, God fearing, people oriented, development conscious, more educated and willing to pass the same quality to the coming generations"*. Those were his words.
He confidently made it known to youths that the power belongs to them and they should withdraw their intellectual support, consistent energy dissipation, cyber defense and even gathering at rallies for such recycled leaders.
While reacting to questions from newsmen, the state chairman of the party, Prince Tolu Ajayi, reinstated the needs for Ogun youths to come out of their comfort zones and be more proactive in their participation in political processes that will give a vibrant youth the opportunity to muster development in their localities, in his words, He appreciated the large turn out of the youths and assured them of both national and state supports. In the closing remarks by the State Secretary, Comrade Wale Hassan I encouraged all members to get their PVC without any delay.
With so much joy and celebration, the youths departed with promises to return with the message to their wards and counterparts.
Signed:
Comrade Nadi Adeniyi
