  The  Dangote Petroleum Refinery  has announced a reduction in the ex-depot price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol, lowering it from ₦880 to ₦840 per litre The adjustment was confirmed on Monday night by the Group’s spokesperson, Anthony Chiejina. Chiejina said, “PMS price has been reduced from N880 to N840 per litre effective 30th June.” The price cut comes just weeks after the refinery raised the product’s cost due to a global surge in crude oil prices triggered by the Israel-Iran conflict and the uncertainty surrounding the bombing of the three Iranian nuclear facilities by the US President Donald Trump.

  President Bola Tinubu has suspended Godwin Emefiele as the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) governor. “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has suspended the Central Bank Governor, Mr Godwin Emefiele, CFR, from office with immediate effect,” the Director of Information, Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation Willie Bassey said in a Friday statement. “This is a sequel to the ongoing investigation of his office and the planned reforms in the financial sector of the economy. “Mr Emefiele has been directed to immediately hand over the affairs of his office to the Deputy Governor (Operations Directorate) [Folashodun Adebisi Shonubi], who will act as the Central Bank Governor pending the conclusion of the investigation and the reforms.”

The former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, has requested the Peoples Democratic Party to apologise for suspending him from the party. He described his suspension as “libellous and defamatory” with the aim to soil his personality. Recall that Fayose and some members of the party were suspended by the National Working Committee of the party over alleged anti-party activities. However, on Thursday, the party reversed the decision and warned members of the pary to respect the party’s constitution. Fayose, through his lawyer, Akinwale Kol-Taiwo, addressed a letter dated March 31 to the party’s acting national chairman, Iliya Damagum, noting that he was suspended for no reason. Adejobi made this known in a Twitter thread on Saturday, where he explained the difference between the alleged threat by Musiliu Akinsanya, better known as MC Oluomo, and Portable’s case.
