COVID-19: Doctors threaten indefinite strike over working conditions The NationMay 30, 2020

The Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) have threatened to embark on an indefinite strike should the government fail to resolve issues revolving around the welfare and safety of its members. The NARD stated that the Federal Government is paying lip service to the welfare of health workers, especially when it concerns the review of hazard allowances and life insurance, which it says is active only on the pages of newspapers. While demanding for the reinstatement of 26 of its members who were ‘illegally’ sacked in Jos, the Association disclosed that some States government have chosen this critical and wrong time in the country to slash the salaries of health workers.

The Katsina State police command has arrested three men over a video they made and shared on social media, allegedly insulting President Muhammadu Buhari and the state governor, Aminu Masari. Spokesperson of the command, SP Isah Gambo, who disclosed this in a statement on Thursday, gave names of the three men as 70-year-old Lawal Abdullahi Izala; Bahajaje Abu,30 and Hamza Abubakar, 27, all of Gafai Quarters, in Katsina metropolis. "The attention of the Katsina state police command has been drawn to a viral video on social media showing one Lawal Abdullahi, alias "IZALA", ‘m’, aged 70yrs of Gafai Quarters, Katsina, Katsina state, who was contemptuously insulting the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, and His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Katsina state, Rt. Nasarawa records first case of coronavirus

Governor Abdullahi Sule, on Tuesday, announced in a press briefing that Nasarawa has recorded its first coronavirus case. He said that five tests were conducted, four came back negative with one positive. “It is sad to announce that Nasarawa has recorded the first case from this lady that travelled from Kano to Kokona local government area of the state. “We already evacuated the lady from Kokona to Lafia where we have better facilities to take care of her. “We have also isolated the family where she came from so that we can conduct a proper test to ensure that her family members are not infected, ” Sule stated.

Hope rises, as Lagos records drop in Covid-19 infections

Lagos State has again recorded a drop in Coronavirus infections, with 34 new cases recorded on Monday. Of the 64 new cases recorded, Lagos has 34. Three days ago, Lagos recorded its first drop in coronavirus infections with 33 confirmed cases; it moved up again on Sunday with 43 cases and moved downward again to 34 cases. This represents a cheering news from the over 280 cases it ramp up in five days last week. On Monday, the State discharged another 15 coronavirus survivors after they tested negative twice. This brings to 143, the number of patients discharged by the state so far, according to the NCDC. The State has also recorded 19 deaths and has 603 active cases to manage.
