The attention of the Young Progressive Party Ogun State has been drawn to an online blog, infolitenews.com.ng which interviewed Comrade Ogini IPAC Chairman Ogun state who claimed that YPP Ogun was purchased by Late Senator Buruji Kashamu for the interest of Asiwaju Abdullateef Adeshina. The online news failed to verify the said information from the party, YPP before going ahead to publish the unverified news online. For the purpose of clear understanding of what transpired between Late Senator Buruji Kashamu and the national and state leadership of YPP, the party was neither sold nor purchased. Comrade Ogini should remember that YPP is a national political party which has her rightful place in the Nigeria Senate along side the APC and PDP. Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs. Pauline Tallen, yesterday, said that about 3,600 rape cases were recorded across the 36 states of the federation during the COVID- 19 lockdown. Tallen stated this when she paid a courtesy visit on the Deputy President of the Senate, Ovie Omo-Agege, in his National Assembly office, Abuja. She commended Omo- Agege for sponsoring the bill on sexual harassment, saying that by this feat, the lawmakers had written their names in gold. The minister condemned the upsurge in rape cases nationwide, stating that she received reports from Commissioners for Women Affairs across the 36 states of the Federation, which revealed that during the COVID-19 induced lockdown, each state recorded not less than 100 cases of rape. She also applauded the Nigerian Governors’ Forum (NGF) for declaring a state of emergency on sexual and gender-based violence calling for more legislation to protect the girl-child and women.

The Chairman, All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ese-Odo local government area of Ondo state Samuel Olorunwa has resigned his membership of the party. He tendered his resignation letter at the party Secretariat today and announced his defection to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Olorunwa said he resigned his position as chairman as well as being a member of APC from Friday 10th July, 2020. It was gathered that his action was propelled by the recent defection of the state Deputy Governor, Mr Agboola Ajayi to the PDP.

A supermarket manager thought he was being pranked after winning £1 million on a £5 scratchcard - but has vowed not to give up his day job. Shawn Keeley, who works at a Eurospar in Dungiven, Co Derry, said he "checked every inch" of the Lotto card to make sure it wasn't a fake. The 26-year-old even consulted with family and friends before he was convinced, but won't be quitting his job despite his newfound wealth. As part of efforts to ensure improvement in the security and safety of lives and property of residents, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde yesterday inaugurated an expanded coverage of its Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) surveillance coverage. The new coverage area, which now stretches to the two toll-gate areas, including the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway and the Asejiri end of the Ibadan-Ife Expressway, is to help in security as well as traffic management. The CCTV project, which was started by the last administration, only covered major red hot zones of the state. The areas include Beere, Molete, Oke-Ado, Challenge, Iwo Road, Agodi Gate, Ojoo, Mokola, Mapo and Sango. A telecommunications mast to enhance signal and flow of communication from the cameras and control room was also installed to replace the dependence on the use of Internet, which has been costing the government N3.5million monthly.
