A 23-year-old worker at a fish pond in Osogbo, Abiodun Olasunkanmi, has been remanded in the Ilesa Prison for allegedly stealing a large quantity of cat fish valued at N800,000. The police on Monday arraigned the accused before an Osogbo Magistrate’s Court presided over by Mrs. O. A. Oloyade. The prosecutor, Mr. Abiodun Fagboyinbo, told the court that the accused committed the offence on April 25 around 5.30am at the fish pond in the Rinsayo area of Osogbo, the Osun State capital. According to him, the offence contravenes Section 390 (9) of the Criminal Code Cap. 34 Vol. II, Law of Osun State, Nigeria, 2003. The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge and elected summary trial. His counsel, Mr. Okobe Najite, prayed the court to admit him to bail “in the most liberal terms.” The magistrate granted the accused bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties, each in like sum. An  attempt by two suspected members of a robbery gang to kill another Uber driver and abscond with his vehicle has been  foiled  by operatives of Rapid Response Squad, RRS, of the Lagos State Police Command. Consequently, the suspects identified simply as David and Major, were arrested with N5,000 they allegedly collected from the vehicle’s pigeon hole. Driver of the UBER cab, Olushola Daniel, explained that the suspects chartered his cab from a popular hotel in Victoria Island area of the state to Tinubu Square, at the rate of N3,000, at about 3.30 am on Monday. However on arrival, he said the suspects held him and ordered him to give them the money in his possession. According to him: “they gripped me by the neck and threatened to kill me if I did not give them money. Nollywood Actress & Philanthropist, Tonto Dikeh was recently honoured with the Peace Ambassador Awards by the Niger-Delta Peace Ambassador Initiative an organisation, that promotes peace and integration. The actress received the award at the 2018 Edition of the annual Niger-Delta Peace for Development Youth Summit/ Niger Delta Ambassador Awards held at Presidential Hotel in Port-Harcourt, Rivers State. She received the ‘Humanitarian Peace Ambassador Award'.

History was made in Ogun East Senatorial constituency of Ogun State on  the 27th of April, 2018 as Young politicians under Young Progressive Party gathered in their large numbers to declare with one voice that enough is enough. Hospitalised Dino Melaye has come on Twitter to thank his constituents for rejecting attempts to recall him from Senate. Melaye spoke from the National Hospital where he had been receiving treatment since Tuesday after he reportedly jumped out of a moving police vehicle and sustained injuries. “Thank you my people. God bless you all. Thank you for the confidence reposed on me. I will not let you down. I will always stand by the truth and the people at all times. God bless Kogi West,” Mr Melaye said on twitter. “Every lie has an expiry date. Forces of evil will never triumph over forces of light. God is with us,” he added. Recall earlier this morning, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared that the recall exercise they held on Saturday failed after people refused to come out to participate.
